CROW'S FEET

Crow's feet are radial lines that run from the outer borders of the eye sockets into the temple area. These become more noticeable when smiling and grimacing. They are caused by attachment of eyelid muscles to skin of this area. With each contraction of muscles these lines become visible, and repeated contractions and changes in the skin make these lines more pronounced with age.

Crow's feet are treated with Botox injections administered right into offending muscles. Usually 10-15 units of Botox are needed into each side of face.

In case of very deep lines Restylane or Perlane or Radiesse may also need to be injected into crow's feet lines to smoothen out these areas.

LAUGH LINES

Laugh lines or nasolabial lines radiate downwards from nostrils to angles of mouth. They are called laugh lines because they become more noticeable when a person smiles or laughs. With aging, these lines become more noticeable. Sometimes they get deep enough to be called grooves, and they can develop to the point that they show all the time, not just when smiling or laughing.

Since these lines are the result of soft tissue depression, they are treated with tissue fillers. Any of available facial fillers will help.

Dr Rai prefers using Radiesse for deep nasolabial lines. For more superficial lines dermal fillers like Restylane, Perlane, Juvéderm are preferred.

EAGLE NOSE

Eagle nose is a variation of shape and size of nose.  When nose is long and hooked like an eagle’s beak, it is sometimes nicknamed “Eagle Nose.”

Usual rhinoplasty methods with subtle variation in techniques are used to refine the nose and make it more normal looking.

Either a closed or open rhinoplasty technique is used to modify bone, cartilage, and tip structure of an “Eagle Nose” to make it look more normal.

SMOKER'S LINES

Smoker's lines are caused by attachments of lip muscles to the skin around the mouth. Permanent lines appear around the mouth from repeated contraction of these muscles. These lines occur more frequently in smokers, partly as a result of the negative effects of smoking on skin tone, but non-smokers are not immune to this problem.

Smoker's lines are sometimes treated by Botox injections around the mouth, which work by partial weakening of lip muscles. Drooling is a potential side effect of this treatment.

Another treatment option involves augmenting the lips to make them appear fuller and diminishing the appearance of smoker's lines. This can be done using any of the available lip fillers, including Restylane, Juevederm, Perlane.

SPARE TIRE

Excess rolls of skin and fat around the abdomen can appear like a spare tire wrapped around a person's midsection. They add bulk to the abdomen and can be bothersome and embarrassing to patients.

Often the spare tire persists even after weight loss or despite vigorous exercising to make it go away.

It is treated by liposuction to remove bulkiness caused by fat. If the skin is in good condition, it will contract, but often excess skin will have to be removed using a tummy tuck. The tummy tuck may be performed at the same time as liposuction or during a later appointment. Extensive spare tire, which includes excess fat in the buttocks and thighs, can be treated with body lift.

TURKEY NECK/TURKEY WATTLE NECK

Turkey neck/turkey wattle neck is caused by slackness in the muscles, excess skin, or excess skin and fat in the neck. This condition may be the result of aging or weight loss. This is not only a cosmetic problem, since turkey waddle neck can interfere with neckwear in men.

This condition is treated by removing excess skin via a neck lift operation. A neck lift can be done as standalone procedure or in combination with more extensive facelift. The operation involves the tightening of the skin and/or muscles of the face and neck, correcting this problem.
